009 Stock for RAF Misarah.

I had acquired an amount of stock during the early gestation of Misarah.
A couple of Narrow Planet RNAD  99HP Baguley-Drewry Diesels powered by Kato chassis are the main motive power and both were built by Nigel.
Rolling stock is a Narrow Planet RNAD crew van. This brass etched kit builds nicely and, rightly or wrongly (probably the latter) is finished in green.
The other wagons are plastic kits from the 009 Society.
Various other items, bombs etc, are from various sources which mostly I can't remember the origin.
Power is provided by a Gaugemaster Combi which is attached by a couple of crocodile clips to a couple of nails surgically inserted to a high tech plastic chocolate block connector.
Sorry about the rogue brake van but I didn't notice it sidling up to the Hawk until I had attached the photos-and it is raining!
Sorry about the grainy pictures- I will get used to this new camera!!

009 GEM Dolgoch and N-Drive.

Blame it on Narrow Gauge South.
I had heard of N-Drive but had not seen any of the products offered.
All that changed at NGS!
Nev is a most helpful and knowledgeable chap and had several of his creations happily traversing several loops of track on his stall.
This is a manufacturer who had travelled from the wilds of Scotland to show a well engineered and assembled product. so much so that I bought a long wheelbase 0-4-0 chassi, then had to go and but a GEM Dolgoch body to fit it.
So impressed am I that I have ordered a chassis for my FIVE79 freelance Peckett. See  http://www.n-driveproductions.com

RAF Misirah lettering.

The lettering that I used on the lighting pelmet is shown on the left.
This was found in a branch of The Works at a most reasonable £4-bargain!
Six examples of each letter plus ampersand, all in upper case are supplied, so plenty for more layouts!

RAF Misarah completed-almost!

The arch and title have been completed at long last!
The lettering will be described in the next post- and will surprise you as it did me.
So, the lighting arch has been made from some material which mostly came as packing on our new gas cooker- so no cost there!
The photo below is an example of experimenting with the new camera.

Dundas Models DM19.

This wagon, a W.W.1 War Dept. Class E Dropdoor Well Bogie Wagon, I found at an exhibition . It had not been painted , some of the wheel flanges were missing and one of the strengthening stays had gone missing as well.
The stay was easily rectified with microstrip and a new pair of wheels to replace the flangless ones obtained from Dundas.
A tightening up of some joints and a coat of primer gave it its finished colour. A pair of Greenwich couplings and just transfers to complete.

Scale Link Wolseley Hornet.

Tisis one of my finds from the 009Sales Table.
An excellently made Scale Link model that has been expertly finished.
This one will will be part of Woody Lane which has just hadthe baseboard completed.

Narrow gauge South 2018-more images.

Some more images of 009 layouts at Narrow Gauge South 2018.
lack of time prevented me from noting all the pics to layouts i'm afraid.

Narrow Gauge South 2018.

Hillbrow was privileged to have been invited to Narrow Gauge South at Barton Peveril College , Eastleigh organised by Wessex Narrow Gauge Modellers led by Tim Couling.
A total of 60 stands were accomodated in, for NGS South, a new venue for this years show.
There was so much to see, please excuse the lack of credits in the following photos.
I will publish more in the next few days plus hopefully describing the assembly of some of my purchases.

The above are a selection of 009 layouts which have given me food for thought whilst planning a new layout- more in the next few days.

Bachmann 009 Baldwin runs on Hillbrow.

At narrow Gauge South 2018 on Saturday 7th April Hillbrow briefly played host to the new Bachmann Baldwin.
This was the pre-production model used for the forthcoming Railway Modeller appraisal due to be published in the May edition I believe.
Almost at the end of the show the loco was given a very brief run and its performance is wonderful.
This is the heavily weathered version- I have ordered pristine examples in black and red.
I look forward to release .

Bedford MK completed!

I must admit that I have felt absolutely lousy over the last couple of weeks, one of them spent in bed with a horrible virus- thanks grandkids!

So no modelling at all, all the energy going to prepare Hillbrow and stock for this weekends Narrow Gauge South at Barton Peverill College in Eastleigh near Southampton.

Only other thing I did was to apply the transfers to the Bedford MK and actually declaring it finished!

It really comes out as a good representation of the prototype. It may be that I will add fuel hoses to depict fuelling the Hawk Trainer sat on RAF Misarah although that would mean changing all of the vehicles-I already have a Land Rover partially built which has a first coat of sand paint the same as the MK.

Finally these pictures are from a new camera- the last one fell on its lens which rendered it un-useable.
So these pictures are from a Sony DSC-H300.
